Assistant Operator- City of Steele

The position involves a wide range of tasks including maintenance and repairs to City water and sewer Utilities. Training will be provided on the job in conjunction with an apprenticeship program which may be offered through the North Dakota Rural Water Association in order to obtain required certifications.

Other responsibilities include equipment and facilities maintenance, snow removal and street repair. A class B CDL is required within 90 days of hiring, the City may assist in obtaining this if necessary.

The ideal candidate would be a self starter, conscientious, possess mechanical and problem solving abilities, be able to perform some physical labor and work in inclement weather when necessary. The position involves on call time to oversee the Water Treatment Plant on a rotating basis, time off is somewhat flexible with snow removal and utility emergencies resulting in irregular hours on occasions.
